The rear yard, which slopes down to a creek beyond, is bisected by a 4-foot retaining wall. Below the wall is a stand of native post oaks. The client wanted a natural pool with spa, larger terrace, running space for their children and dogs, and gardens to enjoy throughout the year. The pool elevation was set midway between the house and the existing retaining wall. The pool was designed to fit the contour of the site. Boulders, rock coping, waterline tile and ledge rock vertical surfaces tie the pool and concrete terrace together. Shady areas were planted with evergreen fern, hosta and groundcover. Sunny areas were planted with grasses, perennials and herbs. Deciduous shade trees, evergreen screen trees and shrubs with seasonal interest complete the landscape.
