PRIVATE RESIDENCE
Location:
Dallas, Texas
Landscape Architect: Boyd Heiderich Bargas Gilson, Inc.
Completion: 1998

This relatively new, very tall traditional residence was built three feet above grade level. The client wanted the house to fit into the context of the more established neighborhood, and the outdoors to be more accessible to the indoor living space. BHBG, Inc., created a Pennsylvania stone and limestone parking court with wide limestone steps leading up to a raised grass terrace which surrounds the front of the house. Two large crepe myrtles were transplanted and mature magnolias, bald cypress and Mexican plum were added to the landscape to bring the landscape into scale with the house.
In the rear yard, one limestone and Pennsylvania stone and one brick terrace were added. Gravel gardens were placed along the shady side yards with a trellis built to relate to the height of the first floor windows.
