The home, originally designed by E. G. Hamilton in 1967, was slated for demolition by the previous owner. The client chose to restore the contemporary home and surrounding gardens. The free standing, brick privacy walls and raised planters which encircle the first floor (creating several intimate garden courtyards) were extended to accommodate a new garage addition. An existing black granite slab fountain was restored to working condition, providing a visual focal point. A sandblasted concrete courtyard space was formed in the rear of the home after a new bedroom wing was added. With the exception of the large existing trees, the entire site was replanted using unique plants in masses to complement the architecture.
